7 Quotes That Will Inspire You to Embrace Your Imperfections

Twist2

Besides my 2013 resolution to have more fun, one other thing I worked on the past year was my perfectionist tendencies. That’s been an issue with me for as long as I remember: I fall into the people pleaser category and like to set pretty ambitious standards for myself. With “try, try again,” as my motto, I’m getting a bit better at cutting myself some slack, whether that means taking an afternoon to do nothing but watch a movie and read a book or saying “no thanks” to an invite when my schedule is feeling overwhelming.

The focus on this quality is probably one of the reasons why the quote above, when I came across it today, struck such a chord with me. Life can be messy, less than perfect and a bit out of control, yes. That can be painful at times (like dealing with an injury) and uncomfortable to acknowledge (say, when you have to end a relationship), but it can also foster some amazing growth. And hey, a few of the “plot twists” I’ve had recently have turned out to be the most fun or educational things because of their unpredictability!
