New Playlist: Dance Through 2014!

Dance-1

Happy first day of 2014! As you might know, I'm not huge on resolutions—I prefer setting goals, intentions and adding things to my life rather than taking them away (why stress about omitting gluten when you're not intolerant)? More power to you if they work for you, though! This year, my main goal is to try something completely new each week. That adds up to 52 never-done-before activities by this time next year! I'm excited to get ...continue reading

Half-Marathon PR Playlist

Happy December! (Can you believe it's the last month of 2013? Me neither.) I hope you and yours had a lovely Thanksgiving! I've grown to love running tune-free when I have a fun training buddy to chat with or when my body is feeling great and I'm "running" on all cylinders. ;) But when my muscles start to burn and my brain starts to wander, not much can beat a powerful, fast-paced playlist. One researcher compares the impact of a good ...continue reading

Guys. Can we talk about the fact that radio stations are already starting their 24-hour Christmas music streams?! Premature, I'd say. But the hectic holiday season IS just around the corner (the falling leaves are a stunning hint). So to counteract the holiday tunes, I'm sharing my most recent playlist for the yoga ...continue reading

IMT Des Moines Half-Marathon Playlist

des moines half marathon october 2013

So apparently I'm running a half-marathon this weekend? I had quietly set the IMT Des Moines Marathon as my "comeback race" after the accident since the Above + Beyond Cancer crew would be participating in this event as well. I just started physical therapy two weeks ago and have been experiencing a few recovery pains (darn right hip!), so I decided to set my sights on 13.1 instead of the full. It will still be quite a challenge with my ...continue reading

Running Comeback Playlist!

As I mentioned on Sunday, my podiatrist and arm orthopedist both told me I may be able to jump back into (at least a little) activity around Labor Day. I'm itching to get back to running, yoga, biking, strength training, etc.—I'm sorely missing my main form of stress relief! While I stick with walking and dream of the return of my regular workouts, I put together a fun workout playlist inspired by my little accident and my subsequent ...continue reading

Rundefeated Million Dollar Marathon Playlist

I don't think I've mentioned it on the blog yet, but due to a scheduling conflict, I'm now running my Million Dollar Marathon leg on July 21 in Illinois rather than on July 4 in Colorado. Still, it's hard to believe that in less than four short weeks, I'll be running (or maybe run/walking, hobbling, etc.) through 26.2 miles. My training has definitely not been at marathon levels, so I'm very happy that I'll be able to segment my leg into ...continue reading
