This Saturday marks the beginning of my spring/summer 2013 race season! The first of many races on my calendar over the next few months: Saturday's Market to Market Relay. Our team of seven will cover 75 miles (my portion is about 15 miles total). I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but considering one year ago I wasn't sure if I'd run a second half-marathon, taking on my second relay is a bit laughable. See non-runnners, ...continue reading

Spring Training Playlist

Happy first day of Spring! I'm hoping that along with the new season, we'll experience some new weather trends. It's been in the 30°-range all week so far here—how's it feeling in your neck of the woods? Whether you're sweating indoors or out, this hour-long playlist will keep you moving. Top 12 Workout Songs of 2012

In an attempt to get with all of the 12/12/12 frenzy yesterday, I had a “Top 12 Workout Songs of 2012” playlist all set to go. Now I can vouch for the fact that this playlist rocks—it powered me through a 25:30 5K last night. I’ll take it after a busy ...continue reading

Long Run Mix

Last weekend, I conquered my first 10-mile race. One of the best parts about trying a new distance? Automatic PR! I was a little nervous making the long run jump from eight to 10 miles, but couldn’t say no to an event that started about four blocks from my apartment that benefited a great cause. While I’m nowhere near the fastest in the pack, I am decent at keeping an even pace throughout the race, and was happy to clock in at 1:28:39. ...continue reading

12 Winning Songs to Celebrate the 2012 Olympics!

This week has been quite out of the ordinary: I’ve been averting my eyes from social media and news sites and am sure to be home by 8/7 central. Why? The Olympics, of course! Spoilers are harder than ever to avoid with the way the news works these days, but even if I do hear the outcome before watching, it’s still enjoyable watching these elite athletes perform at their peak. How can you not be inspired to exercise ...continue reading
