I’ve had many friends and even fitness pros exclaim the benefits of exercising on an empty stomach. I, for one, am strongly on team EAT! The latest research has found that even just a light nosh will help you work longer and harder.

So eat dessert first!

This clean recipe is healthy enough to be a pre-workout breakfast, but would also work as a snack or a bedtime snack. It packs more protein than three eggs and ample carbohydrates to jumpstart your muscles.

No need to save banana splits for a hot summer day, just like there’s no need to sweat while starving!

Healthy Peanut Butter and Chocolate Banana Split

  • 1 small banana, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 1 6-ounce vanilla Greek yogurt (such as 0% Chobani)
  • 1/2 tablespoon powdered peanut butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Optional: Cherries (naturally), sliced almonds, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, crushed peanuts or cereal pieces
  1. Split the Greek yogurt into thirds.
  2. Leave one part vanilla, then mix one part with the powdered peanut butter and the final part with cocoa powder.
  3. Scoop flavored yogurts on top of the sliced banana. Finish with toppings of choice.

If you could choose ANY dessert to eat first, which would it be and why?

As unnatural as they are, I’m a sucker for a cream cheese-frosted funfetti cupcake!

  1. What a fun breakfast idea! I’d totally top this with some of the homemade granola I baked up this weekend. :-)

  2. YUM! I love this idea — and I am totally on board with eating dessert first. :) Funfetti cupcakes are an excellent choice. If I could choose from any desserts…I think I would go with strawberry shortcake!
