Blogroll Super Shoutouts (Recommended Reading Part 1)
Due to the fact that I have limited blog customization skills with Tumblr (and am too stingy to hire out this task…for now) I don’t have a dedicated blogroll. But if you checked by browser’s viewing history or my Google Reader lineup, you’d see several sites pop up again and again. So today, I am happy to present the first half of my recommended blog list! In no particular order, Healthful Bites-approved web reading:

- Synopsis: Blog creators Jenn and Erin believe that smart choices at the table and keeping active can help you “keep a lid on the junk in your trunk.” No quick fixes, cleanses or fad diets, just sensible advice in a couple posts each day!
- Why I love it: The super fun, friendly voice and variety of topics covered. DVD reviews? Check. Playlists? You got ‘em. The latest health news with commentary and a few laughs? This is the place. Plus, the ladies behind the blog host wellness challenges each month and seem to be building their Fit Bottomed empire daily!
- Sample post: Battle of the Core Workout DVDs
- Synopsis: Jenn treats readers to an inside peak at her life, kitchen and travels. She makes and shares some yummy meals and fun times with her family.
- Why I love it: This fellow Packer fan has made a few appearances on Healthful Bites before. Not only is she a super blogger on topics of food and fitness, an amazing entrepreneur (with fab partner Jill) and beautiful bride, but she’s also a real life friend of mine!
- Sample post: What Dreams Are Made Of
- Synopsis: Josie reviews grocery store products (with her family’s input too!), discusses living well as a mom of four and fosters an awesome blog community.
- Why I love it: Girl is hilarious and real. Enough said!
- Sample post: Tasting! Kellog’s Crunchy Nut Cereal

- Synopsis: Madison, a magazine editor, vegetarian and gorgeous chef who’ll soon be walking down the aisle, takes amazing food photos and shares scrumptious recipes.
- Why I love it: Espresso and Cream is packed with simple, nutritious recipes and indulgent treats that make you wish you could reach into the screen and eat them. Even Rachael Ray approves!
- Sample post: Buttermilk Blueberry-Lemon Pancakes
- Synopsis: Tina shares how she eats nutritiously most of the time and still enjoys her cake too. Wallet- and waistline-friendly meals take center stage on her blog.
- Why I love it: The reasonable, balanced approach. Plus, Tina, her husband and pug always seem to have so much fun!
- Sample post: The Cosby Cake
- Synopsis: Caitlin is an avid runner, wife, food blogger and author who inspires readers to move along their on healthy living path.
- Why I love it: Healthy Tipping Point has a great mix of food and fitness, and the blog shows the behind-the-scenes action of Caitlin’s life and the movement she launched called Operation Beautiful. What an awesome idea!
- Sample post: Oh Hi, Ohio!
Next week, I’ll be back with part two of my blogroll, including some non-wellness blogs that I love (and think you will too)!
