Sunday Morning Special: Dinner, Dessert and a Tank Top Workout


We’re finally, frighteningly, approaching the “destination” of my wild Million Dollar Marathon journey—just seven days now! My training has been limited due to some nagging injuries, so thank goodness I’m able to split up the 26.2 into two or three different outings over the course of the day. My three key goals for the week: water, sleep and trying not to stress. :)

I’ll be back a little later this week with my latest kitchen adventure, but in the meantime, check out some stories that caught my eye this week:

  • Can the techies out there hurry up already and create a way for us to grab a bite of food through the screen? That’s exactly what I want to do with SkinnyTaste’s Naked Turkey Bruschetta Burger. This looks like THE light yet satisfying summer dinner.
  • But no warm-weather meal is complete without a cool treat, right? French Toast Ice Cream, featured on Dashing Dish, might just be the most unique breakfast/dessert combo I’ve ever seen. As if I needed more convincing to try a scoop, one serving packs in 13 grams of protein, too!
  • I was lucky enough to have a personal training session with Joel Harper, Dr. Oz’s fitness pro, during my time in New York. If you could have asked them the day or two after, my muscles would have vouched for this guy’s strength skills! Want a taste? I discovered and tried Harper’s 20-minute equipment-free upper body workout on yesterday and it’s (almost) just as good. It might feel easy for the first few minutes, but stick with it…
  • News flash: Even if you’re not into racing, CrossFit or group fitness classes, you are still an athlete. YumYucky’s Josie reminds you of this important, empowering fact in her brief but brilliant post.
  • You know you’ve found a good workout when step-ups feel like a break. This Leg Love routine on Fit Bottomed Girls sounds killer (those burpees!) but I have a feeling that the circuit setup would help time speed by.
  • Do you own (and use) a scale to track your weight? I’m on team Madison for this topic!
