Sunday Morning Special: Long-Lasting Produce + Hard Home Workouts

Good morning, sunshines! How have you been? Besides jamming to my new go-to playlist, I had another week full of busy work days, doctor check-ups and new-to-me adventures, including a baseball game, a restaurant week outing and a super-fun wine and cheese party. I’ve found that keeping my social calendar booked has been key to keep my mind off my injuries and the fact that I can’t be as active as I would like. Plus, it’s good for the soul. The art of distraction can be a powerful thing!

Today, I’m planning a walk and dinner at Panera with my aunt, cousin and Grandma. Because one can never have enough Strawberry Poppyseed & Chicken Salad! Before taking off, here are some of my favorite stories I discovered over the past seven days:

  • Since I’m often cooking for one, finishing all the produce I buy at the farmers market each week before it goes bad can be a challenge. (How can you resist all of those fresh finds?) That’s why Cooking Light’s helpful hints about how to extend the life of your fruits and veggies caught my eye. #1 is so smart!
  • Bodies take a beating during challenging workouts. Here, running and health coach Laura (AKA Mommy Runs Fast) shares the top two nutrients that aid athlete performance and recovery.
  • “We all face something tough at some point. It’s how we deal with that situation that makes us who we are. It helps us make OUR story.” << Stuft Mama hit the nail on the head with her reflections after seeing the new Disney movie Planes. Who wants to go see the animated flick with me now? :)
  • You might think that crunchy apples could be tough on teeth, but they actually boost oral health by strengthening gums. Redbook rounds up more foods and drinks to keep your smile sparkling. Time to snack on a fruit and cheese platter with a water chaser!
  • Do you breeze through at-home workouts on auto-pilot, simply because you have limited equipment and less space than at the gym? Carrots ‘N’ Cake has five CrossFit-inspired solutions for you here!
  • I’m always on the hunt for new blogs to peruse, so Lindsay’s “35 Bloggers I Love ” list is totally pin-worthy so I can follow them all!

Which bloggers are on your MVP list?
