Can I have a pause button, please? Tomorrow marks the start of July. That also means that my Million Dollar Marathon leg is coming up in just three short weeks! Un. Real. Speaking of MDM, if you want some fascinating, inspiring reading, follow the progress of the team here. As you can see above, I've been soaking up some summer fun these past seven days. A couple highlights: one VERY sweaty and very scenic run in my new Mizuno Wave ...continue reading

I don't think I've mentioned it on the blog yet, but due to a scheduling conflict, I'm now running my Million Dollar Marathon leg on July 21 in Illinois rather than on July 4 in Colorado. Still, it's hard to believe that in less than four short weeks, I'll be running (or maybe run/walking, hobbling, etc.) through 26.2 miles. My training has definitely not been at marathon levels, so I'm very happy that I'll be able to segment my leg into ...continue reading

Dam to Dam 20K Recap

saylorville

What a way to start the weekend! I had a very low-key Friday night, KT taping my feet and right knee (it's oh-so-helpful when your body is creaky like mine has been lately!) and preparing my race day gear before Saturday's Dam to Dam. Shorts or capris? Lightweight long-sleeve top during or just pre-race? It's always a tough judgement call no matter the conditions, but we couldn't have asked for better weather: 60° and sunny as the gun ...continue reading

Can you believe the week is more than half over already? It's amazing how a three-day weekend throws off your calendar. I'm not complaining about it, of course! I am a little nervous about the upcoming weekend, though...I'm signed up to run a 20K at the Dam to Dam, but my tendinitis has been acting up. Again. I've been cross training and trying to take it easy for the past week or two, but I'm still feeling less than 100 percent. ...continue reading

26th Birthday Celebration: Running 26.2 Miles!

MDM-Logo-300w

This past year was a memorable one, to say the least. I scored a shiny new half-marathon PR, finished my first (and second) running relays and reached my long-awaited goal of becoming a group fitness instructor. Away from the fitness world, I moved halfway across the country into an apartment I adore, was lucky enough to meet some amazing new friends, checked off a few items off my bucket list (starting a gratitude journal, joining a ...continue reading

Market to Market Relay Recap

BJ_GunGCQAAdLR7

Last Saturday, I hopped in a van with a bunch of strangers. Why? To run the Market to Market Relay! Alex, standing just to the left of my bright blue pants (Ha! Can't miss 'em, I guess.) in the picture above, was one of my college roommates and has recently become a central Iowa racer extraordinaire, but I'd never met anyone else on our team of seven before. Still, when Alex asked me to join the team, how could I refuse? I knew a ...continue reading
